What is an ESN Number?

(Electronic Serial Number) This is a unique serial identification number programmed into a wireless phone by the manufacturer. Each time a call is placed, the ESN is transmitted to a nearby base station so the wireless carrier can validate the call. The ESN differs from the Mobile Identification Number, which identifies a customer's wireless phone number. MINs and ESNs are electronically monitored by the carriers to help prevent fraud.

Where can I find my ESN number?

Remove the battery from your phone. It will be an 11 digit number with a barcode underneath it. The abbreviations that can appear next to it are ESN, DEC, HEX, IMEI or MEID. If you have a choice, please send in the DEC numbers only. (Those will ensure a faster response from CheckESN.com.)

Do you work for Sprint?

No. We are an independently owned and operated company that helps customers, service providers and wholesalers to check their ESN to ensure that their phone is clear for new activation on the Sprint Network.

Do you check all forms of ESNs?

Yes, Check ESN verifies all forms of ESNs. We can check DEC or HEX versions for ESN, IMEI and MEID. To ensure that your transaction is processed as quickly as possible, please use DEC versions of your ESN(s) whenever possible.

How much is this service?

All depends on what you need. If it's only one ESN check, then it's $2.99. Multiple ESN checks are only $0.99 each! For pricing questions please visit the How It Works page or give us a call at (800) 380-7090.

What kind of payments do you accept?

All major credit cards are accepted via PayPal. If you are a wholesaler and wish to set up a corporate account for alternate means of payment, please contact one of our customer service representatives.

How long does it take to process a request?

Your report will be processed within one hour! If the system flags your request for any reason and you are going to experience any delay you will be notified via email from a customer service representative. Flagged requests usually result from being unable to identify the manufacturer of your phone. To expedite your request please ensure you are sending in the complete ESN number for the units in question.

Is there a limit to the number of requests a person can submit?

Never! As a matter of fact, the more ESN numbers you request to be checked at once, the more you save. Please check the How It Works page for more information on the combined savings!

What kind of a guarantee do I have the information you provide me is correct?

At CheckEsn.com we are so confident in our services that we have a 100% guarantee. If you pay for our service and find that the information we provided is incorrect, we will refund your fee. Refunds are offered if and when CheckESN.com has supplied the customer with information stating the units in question are eligible for activation and after going through the activation process, Sprint has refused to allow new service for this unit. This guarantee will expire 10 business days from the date of the transaction confirmation, which is the day that the payment is processed. CheckESN.com is not responsible for user delays.

What are some of the reasons that an ESN would not be clear to activate a phone on the Sprint network?

Your phone might show up in the Sprint system as lost or stolen. The unit may already be active or "tied" which means they are part of a larger account that still has money owed.

Will the report tell me if a phone is linked to an account that has money owed on it and cannot be activated until the balance is paid off?

No, our database is designed to collect and report information only on whether the units are clear for activation. Some carriers will blacklist a phone if money is owed on an account that a phone is linked to. You are encouraged to contact the carrier prior to purchase if this is a concern.

If I give you my ESN, can you activate my phone or disrupt my service?

No. Nothing can be done without the matching wireless number and a majority of your personal information, which is why we only ask for your email address to send you your results.

Can Check ESN activate my phones?

No, our service determines whether the ESN on a cell phone or aircard can be activated or not on the Sprint network.

When should I use check ESN?

When you are trying to buy or sell a phone in the open market like EBay or Amazon. Wholesalers utilize this service to ensure minimal returns with their customers. It's also a good way to check if your mobile phone has been lost or stolen!
